Rebecca wins Silver in 100M Breaststroke

It came down to just a touch of the wall Monday, but Team USA women’s  swimmer Rebecca Soni came-up just short again of winning a gold medal  at the Olympic Games in the 100-meter breaststroke. Soni, a native of  Plainsboro, NJ, was edged by 15-year-old Ruta Meilutyte of Lithuania, who finished  with a time of 1:05.47 seconds to earn first place at the 2012  London Olympics.

This was the second time in as many Olympic  games that Soni was edged at the wall. In 2008, Soni finished second in  the 100-meter breaststroke in Beijing. Soni went on to earn a gold medal in  the 200-meter breaststroke.

Overall, Japan’s Satomi Suzuki earned the bronze medal with a  time of 1:06.46. Soni will compete in four more events in London.
